Wendy Taylor worked in the Victorian Government and independent school systems for 25 years, teaching class music to students from infant grades to Year 12 and directing choirs and orchestras. Wendy worked at the Monash University Krongold Centre from 1971 to 81 using music with gifted children, babies with a disability and young adults affected by car accidents.

She is a foundation member of the Australian Music Therapy Association Inc. (estab.1975) and was national secretary (1978-1981). In 1986 she was awarded honorary life membership.

For 22 years Wendy was an official page-turner for international pianists appearing with chamber music groups at the Melbourne Concert Hall (Hamer Hall) for Musica Viva Australia concerts. In 2003 and 2004 Wendy was invited to be part of the Planning Committee for the Dame Elisabeth Murdoch Recital Hall.

From 1997 to 2000, Wendy wrote articles of analysis and background information for publishing in the Secondary Teachers’ Handbooks for the works performed by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra at the annual schools’ concerts series. Wendy presented music stimulation programs for frail-aged residents in care, in the three City of Kingston aged care hostels, from 1995 to 2008. From 2002 to 2006 she was invited to be director of a frail-aged choir of these residents, who rehearsed and performed in the area.

Wendy was secretary of the Ileostomy Association of Victoria Inc. from 1995 to 2017 and assistant editor of the ACSA Journal ‘Ostomy Australia’ for seven years.

Wendy was President of the Palladian’s Association from 1996 to 2008 and was a member of the MGHS School Council 2004 to 2008. At the MGHS Annual Presentation Night, the Wendy Taylor Scholarship is awarded to a Year 10 student entering Year 11, who has demonstrated a commitment to the study of music at a high level and has contributed to the overall musical life of the school.
