Strategic Adviser & Connector

Dr Vicky Au is a strategic advisor and connector who has built a career at the intersection of industry, research, and government –translating complex knowledge into strategy, partnerships, and real-world outcomes across energy, innovation, and emerging technologies.

Vicky holds a BSc (Honours) and BA from the University of Melbourne, a PhD in physics from the Australian National University, and professional education through Harvard Business School, CPA Australia, and the Australian Institute of Company Directors, reflecting a career path across scientific, commercial, and policy domains.

With professional experiences taking her across Australia and almost every continent, many of her roles have had a pioneering flavour. She began at IP Australia, before moving to PwC, expanding innovation advisory into new markets in Melbourne, Perth, and Shanghai. At CSIRO, she developed new strategies for industry engagement before co-leading the inaugural Hydrogen Industry Mission – a first-of-its-kind initiative uniting industry, government, and research to accelerate clean energy opportunities. At Wood, a global engineering firm, she took on new initiatives bridging traditional and future energies.

An Advisory Council member for Monash University's Turner Institute since 2017, she also serves as State Ambassador of the inaugural French-Australian Women in Business Board.

Named in the Hydrogen Economist's Women in Hydrogen 50, Vicky has shaped the dialogue on energy transition and leadership as an invited speaker, chair and committee member at over 55 national and international conferences.

Through ballroom dancing and jazz singing, Vicky keeps the performance spirit alive from her Mac.Rob days leading her House to Chorals victory and receiving School Colours in Music. Active in the mentoring community for over a decade across career transition, leadership, and STEM, Vicky also brings together neighbours of all ages for fitness, culture, and connection. Vicky values time with her family, husband Darren, and Scout, their English cocker spaniel.
